Chapter #7

Game Plan

"Wally's right," Superboy piped up, surprising the group. Everyone turned to look at the large teen. "With or without the costume, Robin is our friend, I'm sure as hell not going to sit around and do nothing while he's reliving the most traumatic moment of his life every night." The group smiled and nodded at Conner, for someone so emotionally detached and hot-headed as Conner he could be really sweat.
"But the problem remains on how we are to help him," Kaldur spoke, "trauma like his won't be fixed by seeing a therapist."
"Maybe we could try hypnotising him," Zatanna suggested.
"Batman would have trained him against hypnotism," Artemis reasoned, "if we want to help him we need to find a way so absurd that Batman wouldn't have thought to train Robin against it."
"You're asking us to think of something BATMAN couldn't think of?" M'gann asked, "that's not an easy feat."
"There's got to be something," Artemis replied, "what about you're telepathy?"
"I already tried that," M'gann reminded, "and besides, Batman would have a counter measure for my uncle, I'm not as strong as he is." Wally watched the others discuss before meekly speaking.
"Well...I may have one method, but it's sort of weird," he informed.
"That's kind of what we're going for here," Artemis reminded, "what is it?"
"The way I see it, the best way to stop his trauma is to regress his mind, if we can stimulate his childhood it would hopefully end his trauma by creating a different perception of childhood," Wally explained.
"So how do we do that?" M'gann asked, "we already established that my powers won't work."
"No, this is an old fashion form of brainwashing, one that can't be protected against," Wally informed, "we need to treat him like a baby, diaper, baby food, the lot." The room was eerily quiet for about a minute.
"That actually has a chance of working," Artemis agreed, "I don't even want to know how you came across that but it would work."
"Hold up, you suggest we treat Robin like a baby, a REAL baby?" Zatanna asked, "let's ignore the fact that NONE of us have experience raising kids, what would make Robin agree to do this?"
"You saw him earlier," Artemis replied, "he was broken, Robin smart, if there's a chance this will help him he'll agree."
"But wouldn't this be a better job for Batman?" M'gann asked. Both Kaldur and Wally looked away for a moment in pain.
"No," Kaldur firmly said, "I can't explain, but Batman is the worst person to take on this role."
"Robin may not seem like it but his relationship with Batman is shaky," Wally added.
"Ok, so we're doing this?" Conner asked, "we'll need baby furniture in Robin's size, as well as food clothing and other instruments." Kaldur raised an eyebrow at Conner as he seemed to take charge of the situation, he never expected him to be able to lead so well.
"I can worry about the clothing," M'gann offered.
"Zee and I can get all the necessities," informed.
"Kaldur and I will find the furniture then," Conner then turned to Wally. "Wally, we need you to try and convince Robin into doing this."
"Wait, why me?" Wally asked.
"Because it was your idea?" Artemis offered.
"Robin trusts you more than any of us," M'gann informed, "I see it every time I enter his head, you're like a big brother to him." Wally was startled slightly, did Dick really see him as a big brother?
"Ok," Wally agreed, "but we need the best for Dick, I'll talk to Batman and get him on board with this idea, we can use his money to pay for everything."
"Are you sure Batman will be ok with this?" M'gann asked.
"If he's not I'll force him to," Wally replied, the others could tell he wasn't joking, the determination in his eyes was almost overwhelming.
"Before we split up I need to ask," Artemis gained everyone's attention. "Is Dick really his name?" Wally mentally slapped himself, he hadn't realised he was using his real name this whole time, he supposed the shock of seeing Dick in such a state made his brotherly instincts kick in and superhero titles became void.
"It's a nickname," Wally sighed, "I guess with the amount of times I must have shouted it earlier it would matter keeping it secret." After the group disbanded to do their jobs Wally met Robin on the couch, he was still sniffling from what had happened, not only did he have the night terror again but everyone saw him, he had WET HIS PANTS in front of everyone.
"Hey buddy, how's it going?" Wally asked softly as he sat down next to him, Dick didn't respond, he was too embarrassed to look at Wally. Wally pulled the boy wonder towards his chest and started to rub his head soothingly. "It's ok, everything that happened, wasn't your fault, we love you Dick and we want to help." This time Dick did respond, he started to sob lightly in Wally's arms.
"I don't know what to do Wally," Dick admitted, "I'm supposed to be the independent and experienced sidekick, but now I'm nothing but a pants wetting crybaby."
"Being independent isn't always a good thing," Wally replied, "we've all talked and we want to help you out."
"How? Batman's taken me to therapy, it won't work," Dick replied, starting to tear up.
"I've thought of something that might work but we need you to be ok with it," Wally informed.
"What is it?" Dick asked, Wally hugged the boy tightly.
"Before I tell you remember, no matter what you do, wear or think, you will always be my best friend, I will never leave your side and I will never think of you any less than awesome," Wally informed. There was a moments pause before he continued. "We're thinking about using Regression Therapy, we want to treat you like a baby."

*Noteb*
2. "Treat me like a baby? No Way!"
