Midna decided to go easy on Link for the first leg of their journey, and it wasn't long before the pair had escaped the castle dungeons. However, as they made their way across the parapets of Hyrule Castle, fighting off Shadow Kargaroks, Midna found herself once again growing jealous of a woman from the World of Light.
Did they even really need that hussy Princess Zelda? Midna could tell Link everything he needed to know, after all, and her power was more than enough to take care of the usurper Zant, or even that nasty Ganondorf fellow. Perhaps it would be easiest to take Zelda out of the picture for a while, so Link could focus wholly on her. It would be easy for Midna to zip ahead to the tower where Zelda waited and... take care of her.
But what would be the most fun way to do it? Midna could just swallow Zelda whole. That would take her out of the picture entirely, and it had been a while since she had tasted princess.
Or, it might be even better if she could make Link reject Zelda by his own hand. She could make Zelda serve Zant, or maybe turn her into a monster; either way, Link would be sure to turn against his princess.
A wicked grin crossed Midna's face as she envisioned inflicting a certain curse upon Zelda, one that Midna was all too familiar with. There was a certain amount of poetic irony in leaving the Princess of Hyrule trapped in the form that the Princess of Twilight had once worn. Zelda wouldn't be so high-and-mighty then, not with her magic sealed and her body reduced to that of a worthless imp.
As they approached the tower where Princess Zelda awaited them, Midna made her decision.
