You peek your head into Emily's room with a light knock. She's at her desk working on some homework. She looks up at you, surprised to see you paying her a visit.
"Yo, what's up?" she asked, wondering what you were doing.
"I know you just had to run cross country after school, and I've been possessed by a sudden streak of kindness. Want me to go wash your clothes for you?" you ask her. What you don't tell her is part of what inspires you to be so kind is what felt like a near brush with death earlier. You're lucky no one got hurt, there's no telling what that chemical could have done to your skin.
"Uh, yeah, sure. That'd be cool. Thanks," she says, gesturing at her hamper. She then puts her earbuds in and goes back to working on homework. It wasn't showy or anything, but getting any form of verbal appreciation from Emily was rare, so you took it. You grabbed her hamper and took it down the hall to the washing room. You loaded everything up, waited, loaded it all into the dryer, waited, and finally you had done your good deed.
Just as you were pulling the last of Emily's clothes out of the dryer, you started to feel like you were going to pass out.
And you did.
You faceplanted right into the full laundry basket. And the mystery chemical you had helped create finally took effect. Your body dwindled down to size until you were no bigger than a bug. In your sister's clean laundry.
When you woke up, you came to grips with what had happened. It took you several minutes to comprehend that the field you stand in was just your sister's clothes. And the world out there was only the laundry room. It looked like a while new world to you, but in reality it's very small.
You didn't want to risk jumping to the ground, so you decided to sleep in the laundry. You figured you could get Emily's attention when she comes to collect it. You picked a spot to sleep, and you were so tired you didn't hardly notice what it even was. You just slept through the night.
Come morning, Emily came to collect her laundry. She was grateful you did it for her, but a little annoyed you never brought it back or even told her it was done. Emily came and took the laundry basket back to her room, so she could get dressed. You had not woken up just quite yet. What article of clothing were you asleep in?
