The ground rumbles as you sprint across the open plain of tiles. Each step covers only fractions of an inch, yet the towering teen seems to grow further and further as you approach. Still, you head on, focused on her, or more specifically her flats. The exposed skin is your best bet to getting noticed.
"Good morning. Can I get your order?" A voice rings out from the heavens, and without warning a wall of black drops down before you. The force knocks you from your feet, and with a yelp you tumble into the hard rubber. The waitress who's shoe you just slammed into doesn't react. You peer up, heart dropping as you realize that you need to crane your neck to even see the pale strip of ankle between sock and trousers.
As the girl speaks her order, the waitress rocks her foot forward, resting her weight on its ball and revealing its towering sole to the world. It soared over you, a dark, scuffed maze, with foodstuffs of all kind jammed in the treads. You gulped, frozen in fear, staring at chunks of fries and pastries and sandwiches, each large enough to feed you for a month, and each trampled beneath the woman's steps beneath her notice.
Then, as soon as it had appeared, her foot vanished, the rush of displaced air pulling you to the ground. "I'll be right back with your drink~," she said, her voice echoing in the distance, already becoming lost in the coffee shop's din.
You struggle to your feet. The image of the waitress's sole was engraved in your mind... You couldn't help but see yourself among it, a red splotch hidden between other stains she carelessly trod upon.
Suddenly your plan to get the bookworm's attention seemed hasty. Sure, you could probably touch her skin, but now that you've seen just how insignificant you are, how were you going to ever get her to feel you? Her skin, usually soft and delicate, was now a tough armor, thicker than your body! Plus, the so called "easy" path still involved getting on top of her shoes, which in hindsight would require you to actively climb the floral flats on her feet. What if she moved? Or what if she just didn't feel you?
You had the sudden feeling that you were going to die like this...
