Time to Order out, there should be a stash abov...

"Looks like I'm ordering out." Nate said with sigh of annoyance as he shut the fridge. They usually left a stash of money above sink when they went out. He turned his gaze up to the cabinet and paused. Was... was it always that high? He approached the sink and reached, getting up on his toes he was just barely able to grab the cabinet door and open it. There was no way he was going to actually reach inside... but he should be able to. He'd gotten it before, hadn't he?

Another wave of dizziness hit him causing him to lean against the counter for a moment, his vision dimmed but he managed to keep from falling. As before it took a moment to clear and he shook his head. "I really must be hungry right now..." he muttered weakly as he tried to collect himself. What was he thinking about?

"Oh right the stash! Why did they always store it up so high? They know I can't even reach that cabinet..." he crossed his arms look to the open cabinet. They'd even left it open, it was like they were trying to taunt him... Now he'd have to drag out the step stool from the hall closet... so annoying.

Nothing else to be done though, grumbling to himself he went back into the hallway and retrieved the old fold out step stool from the closet. It was awkward to carry under the one arm so he ended up half dragging it back to the kitchen. That was heavier then her remembered it being... After a moment to catch his breath he set it up in front of the sink. Taking one step up he reached toward the cabinet, he could have sworn he made it but suddenly found it just out of reach again. With an annoyed huff he decided to just climb to the top, reaching inside the cabinet and plucking a few folded bills from under a glass jar. Smiling with victory she unfolded the money, revealing three 20s. Score. He hopped off from the step ladder to the floor, landing lightly on the linoleum floor. Should she get pizza, maybe Chinese food... she had enough for both. She was so hungry there might not even be leftovers by the end...

'Since when is you being too lazy to cook an emergency?' his father's voice echoed in his mind causing his breath to catch in his throat, something about that tone of voice caused his heart beat to speed up and his body to shake. He looked to the money with trepidation.

"No... He's not like that anymore..." Nate whispered in a tiny voice, as if he was afraid of being heard. "They said I could use it... he won't be mad." he repeated clutching the money tightly. "Would he?" he squeaked as he imagined the looming figure of his father towering over him, a belt in hand. "I'll... I'll just get a small. That'll be enough..." He swallowed and tried to collect himself. Running a hand through his hair, he took a deep breath and let it out, brushing his bangs out of his eyes he started back to his room to get the phone. Left behind on the kitchen floor was a pair of underwear, too large to stay on Nate's thinner hips. A trip to the contacts later and the phone began to ring.

"Parthenon Pizza, how can i help you?"

"Um yes, can I get a small cheese delivered?"

"It's a minimum $15 for delivery." the women on the other line said with a hint of condescension.

"Right, I knew that!" He blurted out, feeling his face heat up a bit. "I'm just not that hungry today." He said quickly, ignoring as his stomach growled in protest. "You should have waited for me to finish."

"My apologies," the woman replied in a strained tone. "What else would you like?"

"Um," he quickly searched his mind for some of the other things he knew was on order. "Just a two liter of cola and one of those large cookies. Two of them!" He added hastily... for some reason he was really craving sweets.

"Okay, so one small cheese pizza, 2 liter cola and 2 cookies. That will be $18.35." She listed it all out in a professional manner. "Cash or Card?"

"Cash."

"Very well, our driver should be there in 20 mins. Have a good night Miss."

"Goodnight." Nate hung up with a sigh of relief, he'd only used one of the bills. That should be fine... "Wait, Miss?"
