You sat, staring blankly at the credits screen after having witnessed what you may very well have called the most extraordinary game you've played in your life, Monika had finished her song and left her note to you thanking you for playing the game.
What had happened?
You downloaded the game on Steam thinking it would be a cute visual novel, boy were you wrong. And even after all that, all the murder and horrific imagery you experienced throughout the game, you're still left unsatisfied at the end.
For, the literature club is not a place that could harbor any kind of happiness.
Leaving you with no other option, than to accept either a bad or bittersweet ending based on what route you took.
It's simply incredible how certain games can make you think deeply about your life, what you've done, and what you believe in a package that delivers longing, grief, existential ideals, and objective thoughts on morality.
You can't help, but to still remember the first shock you've received, seeing Sayori's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling as ambient creepy music played in the background and error reports pointing to her deletion had arisen. How shocked you were, as much as you were inwardly expecting it after the spiel about depression she had given you not but fifteen minutes before the scene. Poor Sayori, what did she do to deserve a wave of depression coursing through her as her best friend hopelessly tried to save her from the crushing feeling of worthlessness instilled in her from years of concealing her feelings only to have it amplified to an extreme level.
If only you could take these character's pain away somehow,
with that you turn off the computer and go to sleep.
