Alex was on pins and needles waiting to see how Holly would react to the offered he'd put on the table. He'd never wanted to hurt the girl, but they were worlds apart in terms of age. Society would never approve of such a relationship between them no matter how badly she wanted one with him.
They could still be friends though. After all he'd meant what he said. He did like her and would always be her babysitter and they could fool around with his invention whenever he came around to watch her.
"Okay..." Holly whispered. She extended the device out to him, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him as he gently took it from her hand. Heu stared at it for a few seconds before turning back to the little girl he'd unfortunately crushed with the truth.
Alex felt bad. Like, really bad. He wanted to make it up to her somehow and turn her frown upside down. She might not have been older, but she was still bigger. Maybe he could use this somehow.
That's when it hit him. A small smile slowly crept onto his face as he thought about the new movies that were playing in the theatre and just recently made it to streaming. Holly loved movies!
"Hey, Holly. I know you feel sad now, but I know something that'll make you feel better." Alex continued to smile. He saw the confusion on the taller girl's face before elaborating. "How about a movie. I'll even let you choose how we see it."
Her confusion turned into curiosity before eventually morphing into a small smile. She loved movies and would watch them all the time with her parents. "Okay... I like movies."
Alex nodded and mentally patted himself on the back for his quick thinking. "Alright then. Do you want to go to the theatre or do you want to stream it so we can chill out here?"
Holly tapped her chin in thought as she weighed her options. On the one hand she liked the theatre and the big screen. But on the other she also liked having the comforts of home and being able to pause if she had to get up. "Hmm?"
