The next morning, Derek carefully hid the shrink ray in his backpack before leaving for school. The last thing he wanted was some nosy teacher finding it and thinking it was dangerous.
Derek drove separately from his older sister, Lisa, since he was staying after school for football practice. He knew he would try to test the shrink ray around that time.

After a very mediocre school day, Derek placed the shrink ray in his gym bag. He changed clothes and proceeded to practice with his team for the next few hours. As the quarterback, Derek's favorite target was his best friend and wide receiver, Johnny Takahashi. Johnn's parents moved here from Japan but his father was currently on a business trip. He currently lived with his mom Sara, and his 14-year-old sister, Rose.
After practice, Johnny and Derek grabbed their bags. "Hey man wait up, I gotta take a piss," Johnny said before they got into Derek's car. After Johnny had exited the bathroom at the concession stand, Derek decided it was time to show him the shrink ray.
"Hey man you know how my dad's a scientist, right?" Derek asked.
"Yeah."
"Well check out what he made," Derek pulled out the shrink ray and fired it at his backpack. It dwindled down to a mere 1 inch tall.
"Holy shit!" Johnny exclaimed. "Does it work on people?"
"Yeah it does," what do you wanna do with it.
The two teenagers began to think. They considered shrinking down and sneaking into the girls locker room. They also thought it would be funny to play a joke on their coach using this. Johnny still seemed a bit apprehensive though and kinda wanted to test it in the safety of his home.
