Steve continued to tinker with his shrink Ray in his workshop. He knew it’s capabilities but still wanted to test it out more. With the rest of his family members sound asleep, he felt that he had finally perfected it. “Alright, here goes nothing,” he whispered to himself. Steve grabbed the shrink rah and entered a small, empty, spare room in the house. It had previously been used for storage but Debbie had let steve empty it out for experiments. Standing on the edge of the room, Steve activated the shrink ray, which resulted in a strange yellow flash.
From outside of the empty room, Steve could not believe his eyes. The ray had created what appeared to be a miniaturized version of a city, complete with tiny people who stood only a quarter of an inch tall.
Over the next few hours, Steve studied his discovery. He found that these were not real shrunken people, but carbon based life forms who believed they were tiny people, essentially clones. That was a relief that he had not shrunken an entire city and teleported it into his spare basement room.
Steve also noted a strange shielding effect. The people didn’t have any knowledge of anything outside the room, and they couldn’t see anything outside it. As long as Steve didn’t cross the doorway, he was practically invisible.
He did cross the threshold on two occasions. Once at his normal size, where every freaked out and treated him as a rampaging monster, and once after shrinking himself to a quarter inch tall, where no one in the city treated him out of the ordinary.
“This is fantastic,” Steve said, as he went to show his family.

Steve went on to show his family everything about the city, apart from letting them enter the room. He felt that he had to lay down the law. “Absolutely no one is allowed to go in there,” he said. “Not until I’ve studied it a bit more. His wife and kids all agreed, though they didn’t all necessarily mean it.
Later that day, when the once was empty, someone walked to the city laughing. The round the shrink ray, and shrunk themselves to a quarter inch tall.
Who was about to enter the miniature city at the size of its inhabitants?
