You were just beginning your freshman year of high school, and all you wanted to do was avoid being confronted by any of the numerous bullies around the school. One of the guys in your high school class whom you already often avoided was Zack, a star all-around athlete who was probably the cockiest person in the class. And he had reason to be so confident too. He was physically built to be a star athlete. He was only about an inch or two taller than you, but he had long arms and enormous hands that were perfect for a basketball and football player. He also packed on an impressive amount of muscle for a high schooler. Zack was not overweight by any standard, but he had a set of toned abs and large biceps that he would often show off by wearing tank tops and jerseys at school. Unfortunately you just bumped into one of those jerseys.
“WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING MAN!” Zack growled in a deep, raspy voice as he turned around to observe you.
“I’m s-sorry,” you stuttered out quietly as you looked up at your angry peer.
“You better be,” he countered. Suddenly, Zack looked at your nervous expression and gave a slight smirk. “You know what, it was an accident. You wanna have lunch with me and my gang?”
You did not anticipate this reaction, but of course, you responded in the affirmative. “Good,” Zack replied tersely. “I’ll see you then.”
When lunchtime began, you made your way to the table where Zack and two of his friends were seated. One was Doug, a short but bulky track athlete, and the other was Luke, a tall and lanky basketball player known for his smooth jump shot. They had been talking for a bit when you arrived, and they mostly just continued talking about sports, girls, and other topics, engaging with you every once in a while during lunch. As you got up to leave at the end of the period, however, Zack called you directly.
“Yo, the three of us are gonna watch the Monday Night Football game tonight at my house. Wanna come over?” There was an odd glint of mischief in his voice, but maybe you were just being too skeptical. So, you agreed to his proposition again.
Little did you know what was in store for you when you arrived…
