How about because Thea killed Sara (under influence or not, she don't care) Nyssa takes her as her slave, shrinking her for symbolic reasons; Sara when not on missions had basically been her little sex pixie, the demon's heir now forcing a much less eagar Thea into the same position.

Sara can show up eventually, seeing as she came back from the dead, just not in the first couple chapters unless there's a time skip.
