[Set during season 1, because it seemed like a good idea at the time]
'I don't like this' Moira grumbles as she rolls the vial of translucent blue liquid between her fingers
'It's the easiest way to find out what your son knows, if anything' Malcolm reminds her as the car stops outside the Queen mansion 'No offense but Oliver isn't a subtle man, if he knows anything about the Undertaking there will be mayhem especially if he tries to tell anyone. We have enough problems with the Hood character, we don't need things being revealed before they can actually be put into place' Moira sighs but has one last statement to make before leaving the limo
'I still think drugging my son feels wrong'
'I know Moira but it's the only way and he'll never know you gave him it. My scientists tell me the serum is tasteless and odourless, slip it in anything and he won't be able to tell the difference. The only unintentional side effects is depending on the drinker there can be dizziness or drowsiness. They say give it an hour for the best effects'
'Fine but you owe me for this' she huffs before exiting the car, standing at the door as she watches it leave.
Later{ that evening/i}
'Oliver, you around?' Moira calls as she pushes against her son's door, happy to see he was actually in it for once, though not so happy to see he looked tense, worried and was clearly not sleeping 'Are you okay my boy?'
Oliver turns to her and smiles very slightly 'I'm fine mom, it's just...'
'The island? Nightmares?' Moira guesses, knowing like his father that Oliver would try keep things bottled up inside and let them fester, the opposite of herself and Thea they tended to shout every little thing at each other
'Every time I close my eyes, I'm back there. It makes sleep, not exactly something I welcome nor seem to be able to find' Moira bites her lip before passing a teacup over onto the desk he'd been sitting at
'I had a feeling something was bothering you, so I made you some herbal tea, did wonders when your father was working on a big project with Malcolm and the others, got him to relax and clear his mind... something I think you need just as much right now. You need to sleep or you'll crash Oliver, I don't want to lose you after just getting you back' Moira felt bad for using that on him but he's hiding something: Oliver was a terrible liar, or at least to family he was, he's gotten better but a mother knows these things, he's hiding something and he's lying to her face. It was this which really made her empty the vial into his tea before coming up, she wanted answers and if this does what Malcolm claims it does she'll get them.
Oliver sighs but takes a sip, even that does wonders in Moira's eyes as his shoulder slump and he looks more like he did 5 years ago 'Thanks Mom' he whispers, causing the eldest Queen to smile
'Try to relax my boy, I'll check up on you later, there are some things I need tp deal with. Paperwork seems never-ending' she jokes and Oliver smiles, something she'd missed seeing from her once happy go lucky and jokey son.
Like Malcolm said she gave it the needed hour before walking back into the room, not knocking up just pushing it open, what she found there shocked and confused her. She didn't know what the serum was supposed to do to get their answers but shrinking her son wasn't even a thought in the back of her mind, but there he was, standing on his bed looking lost and confused
