Maddie lay on her bed, trying to ignore the immense pain in her gut. Her mother had gotten her some meds to take, while Rose left for school. She started feeling better once the medicine started kicking in, but she still felt miserable.
"Now let me know if you need anything," Maddie's mum said as she tucked Maddie into bed.
She just nodded, as her mother kissed her on the forehead, before turning off the lamp and leaving the room. She made sure that the door was open just a crack, as Maddie heard her head downstairs.
She closed her eyes as another wave of cramps washed over her, gritting her teeth as a tear came to her eyes. This was not how she'd imaged things going for her at all. First, she'd never imagined that she'd become a girl. Second, she'd never imagined just how painful periods were. Now she knew why girls were always so grumpy around that time of the month.
She lay in her bed, trying to ignore the pain, while the rain continued to beat against the window of her room. Her mother seemed to be cleaning up the kitchen some more, by the sounds that came up the stairs.
Maddie, bit her lip, thinking about what Rose had said. She'd mentioned that Maddie was about 12 or 13. How could that be though, when she still had the body of a older boy? This whole situation was way beyond her understanding, and the only one who could probably shed some light on the situation was Sarah. Though Maddie had no idea how she was going to get to her shop in the shape that she was in. She could always wait until she felt better to go find the shop, but Sarah had been very specific that she wanted her to come by today.
