"Right, my....parents are coming over. They should be here by noon." You checked your watch; that gave you two hours to prepare.
"Oh...right." Melissa's face suddenly lost that glow she had when she woke you up, and you knew just why.
Back when the two of you started dating, your parents blew up on you, in front of her no less. Your dad accused you of letting your old fetish think for yourself while your mom said there could never be a future between the two. Of course, you rebelled completely, marrying her without any consent of their own. They kicked you out well before that, so the two of you had become well acquainted before the big day. It had been a year since your wedding, and it was only last week that your parents contacted you about meeting your new wife. How the day would go...well you were hopeful they would turn a new leaf after seeing how well you and Melissa were doing.
"Hey, don't worry. You don't have to be liked by everyone. Some people are just ignorant."
"Sure, but these are my in-laws! Your parents! It's every girl's dream to be in a relationship with a great guy and have a strong bond with his parents...but I guess I've never been a normal girl..." You quickly stood and embraced her hand, which was resting on the counter. You gave it a kiss and rubbed the back of it, doing your best to comfort her.
"You never needed to be normal, honey. I love you all the same. All 50 feet of you!" You rested your chin on her hand and looked up at her with a hopeful smile on your face. She couldn't keep moping when she saw your affectionate display, so she picked you up with her other hand and brought you to her lips, this time allowing both of you to share a sweet kiss before preparing for the in-laws.
After two hours of showering, getting dressed, and tidying the house up, your parents arrived by helicopter right outside the living room window. While Melissa used the door, any guests would land on a pad outside and be welcomed in through the window. Melissa would then take them from there, but somehow you just knew your parents would be stubborn about it.
They walked onto the windowsill, both their faces a bit grim, but when they saw you in Melissa's palm, they both cheered up a bit. Melissa got on her knees so she could be at eye level with them, and she set you on the windowsill next to them.
"Mom. Dad. Welcome!"
"Son. The house is certainly...big," your dad said.
"Yep. Pretty impressive, right?"
"Expensive, actually. All for what?" Melissa kept on her accepting and cheerful attitude despite the harsh comment. My mom stayed silent, but she did give me a hug. It didn't really make you feel like any damage was repaired though.
"Well. As for what we're doing today..."
