She was sewing him inside his suit, he realized. Sweat dripped down the side of his face and his heart started to pound. Things were not going as planned. Kristy’s mom secured the stitch and lifted him up to her face to inspect her work. She held him upside down, making the blood pound in his ears.
“I think this will hold.” She said and gave him a squeeze. Her thumb pushed the air out of his lungs and he groaned aloud.
Kristy’s mom looked at him with a strange expression.
“Did you hear that?” She asked Kristy.
“No.” Kristy answered, her attention on the phone in her hands.
Todd held his breath. He was finished. They would catch him for sure. How could he possibly explain himself?
“I think he talks when you squeeze him.” Her mom said. “That’s kind of childish. Why would Derek think I want something like this?”
She squeezed her fingers around him again and he quickly thought of something to say.
“I love you!” He shouted quickly.
Her fingers squeezed him again.
“I hope you’re beary happy!” He yelled.
She laughed and squeezed him hard with both hands. Her thumb pressed against his throat, and cut off his air.
“Hmm. It’s not working.” She frowned.
Todd fought the urge to struggle for air, holding his breath until she let him go.
She squeezed him again, digging her fingers into his stomach and preventing him from saying a word.
“I guess it’s broken. What a cheap gift.” She shrugged. “Kristy, take this thing to the Bell’s little girl next door. I’m sure she’d appreciate it.”
Kristy looked up from her phone and sighed. “Didn’t Derek give you that bear?”
“He knows I don’t like commitment, honey. A broken toy isn’t going to change that.”
“Whatever.”
Kristy snatched him from her mother’s hands, swinging him through the air without caution. Wind whistled through his ears as she swung him around and he prayed that she wouldn’t drop him. She carried him through the front door and across the front lawn.
This wasn’t part of the plan. The whole point was to see Kristy naked, but she was taking him to a completely different house.
