Rebekah was sat on her bed one Tuesday night, 11:40pm, and she was watching some mundane 'talent' program on TV. It had been a boring day at work, which had started with her being late, something she wasn't usually. But the bus had broken down and had therefore made her late. Luckily for her, Emma was forgiving, since she knew Rebekah didn't make a habit of being late, unlike some employees. Now though, Rebekah was just glad to relax, she had a plate of cookies and a glass of milk by her bedside and she was beginning to feel sleepy.
That is until a bright ball of energy passed through her bedroom wall from outside and hovered there for a moment, as if scanning for something. Rebekah jumped to her bare feet, clad in just her pyjamas, and was about to call out to her mother, Jane, when suddenly the ball of energy... which was about six inches in diameter... shot towards Rebekah and sank into her chest... blowing her backwards over her bed, literally head over heels, and she thudded on the floor.
She tried to get up, to no avail at first, and a searing pain shot through her brain, causing her eyes to roll up into her head. "Oh... ugh... nggghh..." She groaned, as a host of knowledge flooded her mind. Knowledge about how to switch people's body parts around, which was what the orb of light had somehow given her the ability to do. Once the pain had gone, Rebekah slumped on her stomach and face, gasping for breath.
Moments later, her mother rushed into the bedroom, seeing her daughter laying face down. "Oh my god sweetie, are you alright?" She panicked, just as Rebekah began to roll over onto her back and slowly sit up.
"Um... yeah, mum, I'm okay, just fainted that's all." Rebekah smiled nervously, her heart still thumping in her chest. She decided to refrain from telling her mum about her supposed new power, incase she thought she was crazy or ill or something.
"You want a drink honey?" Her mother asked her, kissing her forehead.
Rebekah gestured to the milk on her dresser and her mum helped her up. "I've got my milk, I'll be fine when I get in bed mum, really." She reassured her mother, who hung around for a couple of minutes more before going back downstairs to continue watching her own TV shows.
As Rebekah laid there in bed, sipping her milk, she brushed her long blonde hair from her face and reflected on what had just happened to her. She knew her power was real, she could feel it, the only thing was now... did she want to try it out? She was unsure.
But in any case, she had work again tomorrow, so she knew she needed her sleep.
