When Chel left, she had weight just north of 160lbs.
A year of staying at home, avoiding her colleagues and generally just having a miserable time while gorging on authentic Mexican food hadn't done much to help her budding weight problem. In fact, she'd managed to put on twenty pounds while she was away.
That's right—even with the ungodly hot sun and the spotty A/C and the electricity going out all of the time, Chel still managed to put on twenty pounds during her stay in Mexico. Most expats slimmed down once they got away from America's ready access to excess calories in the form of takeout, meal delivery apps, and hanging out with friends (not to mention having stable internet) but Chel somehow managed to defy the odds and walked off of the runway a full twenty pounds heavier than she had been when she had left.
And she had felt miserable about it all the way home.
"Reagan's going to say something to me."
Chel had been dreading it the whole way back.
"Reagan's going to say something to me, and I'm gonna want to punch her, but I can't, because Audrey will get mad at me, and then everything will be awkward and it's gonna be my fault and..."
Her inner monologue had been more or less this since she had noticed the offending weight hanging off of her already plump physique. Once she started to teeter into "fat" territory, she had been consumed with the idea of what her housemates would think...
"Whatever! I got to go to a foreign country because I speak perfect Spanish. What have any of them ever done?"
Chel had often sniffed this little placation to herself whenever she got especially self-conscious, and it had certainly been with her as she rode in the back of the taxi back to the old brownstone where she and her cousins (and Uma) hung their hats. But not her, because she was off doing wild and crazy things in Mexico.
"If anyone asks, I was super popular, had a great time, and made out with tons of people at parties."
Ixchel's palms were sweaty as she gripped the handle to the front door that led into the vestibule, suddenly feeling each and every ounce that made up the offending extra twenty pounds. Her belly felt like an innertube as it pressed against the kitschy, cheaply printed ¡Ahora, México! t-shirt, and her fat thighs felt as though they were still retaining tamale as they rubbed against each other all the way up the steps...
"WELCOME BACK!"
Four voices had greeted her in what had to have been an incredibly well-rehearsed chant, and Ixchel tried to look surprised. Audrey had told her that they were all going to greet her once she came back (a little payback for nobody having been able to greet her at the airport) and told her to make it look real. And despite the fact that Chel had raised her hands up to her cheeks in mock surprise, it soon became very, very real...
"Welcome back, Chelly!"
Phoebe's plump double chin creased as she beamed brightly to her returning cousin. She clenched her chest tightly with her puffy forearms, drawing them together to bulge over the pale white skin as her tummy bunched behind them. Below, a truly incredible amount of ass bulged out from behind her and side to side.
"Glad to have you home!"
Reagan's offer was a little weak and kind of forced, what with her general aloofness. She and Phoebe were still very much identical, though Reagan's face looked fuller somehow. Seeing not one, but both twins so tubby was enough to make Chel do a double take.
"Happy you're home, girl!"
Uma was already clearly a beer or two in, her dark skin sloshing slightly as she rose a thick arm into the air, no trace of muscle to be found. Her fat belly was already rolling out from underneath her shirt, giving Chel an inch of an eyeful as her mocha-colored middle threatened to unsheath itself.
"We're so happy you're back!"
Audrey even had put on some weight! Despite being a bit bigger than her sisters to begin with, she had lost some headway in the distance between their weights, but there was no doubt in Chel's mind that she was just as chubby as any of the other friendly faces that had greeted her...
There couldn't have been a woman under this roof that weighed less than she did! Over the course of her year away, each and every member of the Fordham house had climbed their way up to nearly two hundred pounds!
"I... missed all of you too!" Chel's surprise had become very much genuine after getting eyefuls of her now Rubenesque roommates, "What, uh... what'd I miss?"
They all laughed, taking Chel's befuddlement as a joke. Raising their glasses, they tossed Chel a drink, and her Welcome Home party began in earnest...
