This choice: “Sorry, I don’t think I can do that.” • Go Back...Chapter #7Braixen Can't Change Your Size by: irven   Your heart sank. You’d hoped Braixen might be able to simply use her magic to get you back to normal size, but apparently, that wasn’t possible. You’d have to search harder to find a solution to your problem.
“Okay...” you muttered, dejected.
“Don’t feel bad,” Braixen said, giving you a warm smile. “I might not be able to help you by myself, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck at this size forever. We’ll find some way to undo this, I promise. And until then, we’ll stay together, and I’ll keep you safe. Okay?”
“Okay,” you said, more energetically this time. You still felt sad, but Braixen was right. There must be some way to undo what happened to you. You just had to keep looking.
But for the time being, you felt too tired to do anything. Your eyelids drooped, and you yawned. The giant Pokémon giggled, and you averted your eyes sheepishly.
“Sleepy, huh?” she said. “I guess getting shrunken must have taken a lot out of you. But you already slept for a bit when I first brought you here. Are you still tired?”
“I guess so. It is night, after all.”
Braixen looked confused for a moment, then chuckled. “Oh—I almost forgot. Humans sleep at night, right? We foxes don’t do that. We sleep during the day.”
“That... could be a problem,” you said. “I mean, it’s good because you can stay awake and protect me when I sleep at night. But you’ll be asleep during the day, when I’m awake...”
“Worried about some daytime predator sneaking in and getting you? I wouldn’t worry about that. Even if I’m asleep, you should be safe as long as you stay hidden in this cave, and you can always wake me up if you need to.”
“That’s not what I’m worried about. If you’re asleep the whole time I’m awake, and I can’t leave this cave, I’ll be bored to death. I’ll be stuck sitting in this cave every day, with nothing to do, just waiting until you wake up. And then when you finally wake up, it’ll be time for me to sleep.”
“Oh... I didn’t think about that. You’re right. That could be an issue.”
“Exactly. Do you have any ideas?”
Braixen thought for a bit before replying, “I have one idea. I could keep you here while you sleep during the night, but then during the day, I could give you to one of my friends who stays awake during the day. You'll stay with her while I sleep, then she’ll give you back to me after I wake up at night.”
You didn’t feel too good about that idea. “Are you sure that’s safe?” you asked the fox. “I trust you, but I don’t know how trustworthy your friends are. What if this friend of yours treats me like a toy, or wants to eat me?”
“I’m sure she won’t. My friends are nice. I refuse to become friends with mean Pokémon.”
You considered her idea for a bit. You had to make a choice. Did you like Braixen’s idea, and accept being swapped between two Pokémon? Or would you prefer to stay with Braixen all the time, and simply deal with being bored during the day?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
