Sneaking the chalk out from her bag, and the book so she could copy the design. Katie waited until her friends were exploring the house. Sounds of doors creaking, or jamming filled the air from different directions.
She looked over the design as it was on the page, she wanted to be finished before her friends returned. The circle itself was intricate with particular characters?, at the compass points. She'd never drawn a summoning circle before, so didn't want to get it wrong. Naturally, she didn't expect anything to happen, but it should create a spooky atmosphere for them all to tell ghost stories.

It was done sooner than she thought, glancing from the page to the floor boards and back again. Katie examined the whole design, and then the different details. Thankfully, she wasn't discovered in the middle of her task. Taking out the candles, she lit all eight spacing them evenly around the circumference of the pattern.
Half imagining movement, in the flickering candle light, Katie was sure this was the perfect environment for the spooky evening to be passed. Squirming half in impatience, she was suddenly eager for her friends to return, and start the summoning.
The words... The incantation, was written out in Latin, and she'd added her own phonetic notes to help her pronounce everything correctly.
