In the doorway was his older sister Sophie, who was five years older than him. She had her bright red hair done in a pony tail that cascaded down over her shoulder. Sophie wore a yellow t-shirt with a black dragon on the front and a pair of jeans that were a little snug.Sophie is at college studying to become a judge. She looked at him impatiently, her hands on her hips.
"I've been waiting outside for the last hour to pick you up, Justin! Did you forget I was coming?" Sophie said in a huff.
Justin blinked as he was pulled back into reality. "Oh...um, no...sorry. I was just finishing up here."
"Well are you ready now?" Sophie asked pointedly.
"Yeah...I'm ready," Justin said as he walked over to his bag and began packing up his stuff. He then grabbed a small cooler and put all his test bottles inside and closed the lid.
Sophie gave him a curious look. "What's in there?"
Justin looked up at her, then down at the cooler. "Uhhh, nothing. Just some stuff from class I wanted to take home with me."
"Like what?" Sophie asked as she stepped closer.
Justin quickly picked up the cooler and headed to the door. "Just some chemicals and things."
Sophie continued to follow him outside the building. "Can I see?"
"No, no, no. No way."
"Come on Justin, you can trust me," Sophie said as she caught up with him at the car park
"It's not about trusting you," Justin said as he tried to speed up.
"Then why won't you let me see it?" Sophie asked as she sped up to match his pace.
"Because...because it's...it's..." Justin stammered.
"It's what?" Sophie asked as they both reached her car.
Justin sighed and stopped. "It's a surprise. Okay? Just a surprise. You can see it later. I promise."
Sophie smiled. "Okay, fine. Let's go."
As they hopped into Sophie's car, Justin looked back at the school. He knew that if things went as planned, he would be able to do whatever he wanted when he came back to school on Monday. And he did have one girl in mind he would like to win over first. But it would have to wait until next week.
Sophie pulled into the driveway of their house and parked her car. She turned to Justin in the passenger seat.
"I forgot to ask how was your day?" Sophie asked, trying to make up for her annoyed demeanour earlier.
Justin smiled. "It was good. Really good."
"You sound pretty happy about that."
"I am, actually," Justin said.
"So, are you going to tell me why?" Sophie asked as they entered their house.
