Toadstool took in a deep breath to muster up as much courage as she had and when she released it she cast down a single question into the depths of the pipe. "Are you single?"
You cocked your head to the side. You couldn't have heard that right./ This couldn't be real. You were either in a dream or the sounds of the pounding rain had distorted the question.
"Um, I didn't understand the question. Could you repeat that?"
Toadstool took another deep breath, then steeled her nerves for what was to come. "I asked if you're seeing anyone, or if you have a girlfriend."
A few seconds passed, then a few more, to the point where the princess feared she would not get another reply/ Then the voice echoed back up the pipe, "Uh, ok. That's what I thought you said."
Toadstool, breathed a sigh of relief, then called down, "Well, do you?"
There was another quick pause, then came the curt reply. "No, no I do not."
"Listen to me, [Y/N] of Cananstota, New York. My name is Princess Toadstool and I am real. I would like to meet you face to face if that's at all possible. All you have to do is come down the pipe and you'll be right outside of my castle. Do you think you could do that?"
There was a long, pregnant pause, even longer than even those that came before. Minutes passed and the princess still didn't get any reply. and she began to worry that something had gone wrong, or that the voice on the other side had abandoned her.
Then Toadstool heard a very strange sound, like water rushing from somewhere deep underground., deep rumbling. Not long after that, a there came a high-pitched scream seemed to be fast approaching!
A figure suddenly blasted out of the pipe carried forth by a mighty gush of water and thing in the air, before gravity took hold and sent it hurtling back toward the ground... directly at her!
