Weiss' finger pressed down on the button the moment she reached the trash can, and as she did, she immediately stopped dead in her tracks. Not because she was about to throw the remote away, but because she could tell something was wrong. Something was very wrong. Something that would stop her from throwing it away.
With a shaky hand, she slowly reached up to the top of her head, eyes wide in panic. Her hand recoiled as her fingers brushed against something furry. Gathering what confidence hadn't fled her, she sent her fingers back in, taking hold of the furry mass. She couldn't just feel it grasped between her fingers, she could also feel her fingers pressing against it, as if it were a part of her. Easing her hand up it, she found it to be somewhat thin, but very long. Once she reached the tip, show slowing lowered her hand once more, pulling whatever this furry thing was into view. If Weiss' eyes could get any wider than they already were, they did just that as she saw what it was she was holding.
Pinched between her fingers was the tip of a fluffy, brown rabbit's ear. Not only that, she could tell from the sensations her body was giving her that it wasn't just some random prop ear that had somehow wound up on her head, it was a part of her. Somehow, she had sprouted a pair of rabbit ears from her head.
Weiss's grip loosened as the colour drained from her face, allowing the ear to spring back up next to its partner. "Impossible..." she mumbled. Against all laws of science and reality, the remote had worked. Considering she'd selected a body part swap, she surmised that she must have selected "ears", and she must have targeted a faunus, resulting in swapping not only their normal human ears, but also the animal ears they possessed. As the shock of the situation slowly began to wear off, Weiss realised just how much louder everything sounded now that she possessed two sets of ears. In fact, her ears twitched slightly as she picked up a nearby conversation, a conversation involving the person she guessed was her target.
Looking over at the source of the noise, Weiss saw the second year team, Team CFVY, seemingly having just come back from town, engaged in conversation. Their conversation wasn't what Weiss was paying attention to, however. Something was very clearly missing from this picture. Velvet, the lone faunus of the team, was present amongst the group, but what wasn't present were her ears. The long, brown rabbit ears that usually sat atop her head were missing, and Weiss knew why. Velvet must have been the person she'd accidentally targeted. She seemed none the wiser, as did the rest of her team. It was as if she'd never had those ears to begin with. In fact, the same seemed to hold true for Weiss herself. Looking around, no one seemed to be looking at her strangely, as if she'd always had these rabbit ears.
"This... This is incredible. How...?" Weiss was at a loss for words. She looked down at the remote in her hand. There was certainly no way she could trash it now that she knew it worked, but in place of her scepticism, she now found her head full of all sorts of questions. Who made this remote? Why did they leave it there in the courtyard? How was anything it did possible? She had a feeling, however, that she'd never get the answers to those questions.
More importantly, though, was the question of what to do next. Glancing back up again, Weiss felt the colour drain from her face again as she realised her accidental target had disappeared; Team CFVY had retreated inside the building, out of Weiss' view. Instead of rushing after them, however, Weiss managed to keep a cool head and think things through carefully. The remote accounted for situations like these. Verifying her memory, she checked the manual again, a small smile appearing as she got to the part about the undo and reset buttons. She could give Velvet her ears back and de-faunus-ify herself whenever she wanted to. Speaking of which, she wasn't sure how this swap would affect the rest of her life. Her parents were both human before the swap, so was she a faunus with different parents now, or was she still considered a human, but with rabbit ears? Perhaps that was worth exploring. Alternatively, now that she had tested the remote first hand, there was no longer any question of whether it worked or not. She could perform any sort of swap she wanted, so long as it was detailed in the manual, and there were still plenty of targets nearby.
