The inside of the Heavenly Bakery smelt, well, heavenly. Delicious aromas wafted into the shop from the ovens in the back. The store smelled of baking bread and cookies. Display cases were filled to the brim with baked good, dozens and dozens of fresh loves of bread were placed in baskets, and tall elaborately decorated cakes sat in a cooling case.
The store itself had nobody else in it. It was late in the morning so Evan reasoned that this must be a bit of a regular lull in the day. The lion meandered around the shop. His eyes were drawn to a display case for doughnuts. However, it was almost empty sans about a half dozen. These doughnuts, though, were more like small cakes. Each one was bigger around than the lion's paw and stood several inches tall.
Evan was eying one in particular, chocolate with chocolate icing on it, when he heard someone come in from the back. She was a panther with beautiful black fur and a cute face. A little shorter than Evan, her busty chest and pudgy belly strained the buttons of her flannel shirt. Thick hips and thicker thighs stretched her khakis tights.
"Hello, sir!" she said. "Sorry to keep you waiting! I had to pull a few things out of the oven. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Oh, no problem. I was just browsing. I haven't really eaten anything all day so far. I spent move of the morning moving my stuff up to my new apartment," explained Evan. "So now it's time for breakfast!"
"Did you just move to town?" asked the panther.
"Yep, literally got in a few hours ago. And now I'm in the mood for doughnuts, but I just need to figure out which one..."
"One? Huh," the panther then grabbed a box from behind the counter. She sauntered over to the display case and placed all six of the oversized doughnuts in there. "Take them all! Consider it a welcoming gift! Besides, it's getting close to noon so these will probably end up in the day old bin soon anyways."
"Really? Thank you!" Evan eagerly took the heavy box from the panther. "Are you sure I don't owe you anything?"
"Nah, just promise you'll be a regular here!" She flashed him a smile.
"Oh, I know I will be..."
"Katie," she said.
"Katie! Got it! I'm Evan! You know I'll be back again! Now I'm going to go eat these! I'm starving!"
"Alright, enjoy!" She waved as he left the bakery with his bounty.
Evan was one his way back to his apartment to devour the doughnuts. But he had spent most of his time in Port Zaftig in his apartment and there was plenty to see. There was a nice park across the street from his apartment. Maybe it would be nice to eat break there. The box he was carrying wasn't to unruly. He could eat while exploring the city as well.
