Chapter #6

Back to Bastion

    by: Mindovermatter Author IconMail Icon
William and Evan promised that they would catch up again. But as quickly as their friendship reignited, it was snuffed out. The colossal wolf got swept up with all of the projects he was working on, all the competitions he was taking part in, and he just couldn't make time for Evan. The lion stopped receiving his texts when it became apparent William was far too busy for his former best friend.

With a glazed look in his eyes, he flipped through the television channels not looking for anything in particular.

He stopped, though, when Evan saw that one of the cabel sports channels was airing footage of an eating competition that happened earlier in the day. Celebrating on stage was an overweight orca with plump limbs and an overinflated belly. He was wearing a tank top, stretched tight over his stomach, with a logo: Two Ws with a slash between them. Onto the stage came a super heavyweight wolf, William, though he seemed to have slimmed down a bit, enough at least to let him walk onto the stage without assistance. The orca was handed one of those comically oversized checks for a quarter of a million dollars.

"Maybe I should have taken Willy up on his offer..."
