It had been a little over a month since Evan agreed to be William's protege, but the lion was nowhere near where he needed to be if he was going to be a successful competitive eater. Simply put, the lion didn't seem to have the stomach to do it; he didn't have innate ability to wolf down obscene amount of food like the wolf could. Sure, he was able to eat more now than he could before, but that was only a meager difference.
"Ugh, I'm sorry, but I really don't think I could eat anymore..." The lion pushed away the remaining quarter of the pizza William had made up for his lunchtime practice. The two furs were in the lush dinning room of the grey wolf's home. Being his protégé, William insisted that Evan move into the guest room in his Port Zaftig home, figuring that the lion would benefit living around his new coach.
"Really? Not another bite?" pled William.
The lion let out a belch. "Not unless you want me to pop..."
The grey wolf drove his electric wheelchair over to one of the wide windows of the dinning room and looked out it towards the ocean. "This...this won't do," he said mournfully.
"I'm sorry! I'm doing my best!"
"Hey, I believe you!" William said. "It's just that... I'm thinking you might need a little more...assistance."
"Like what kind of assistance?"
William turned his wheelchair towards Evan. "There's a doctor in this city. You wouldn't know of him. But he and I have talked back and forth with about appetite stimulants. I could call him up and see how his research is going."
"So, drugs? Isn't that going to be problematic?"
"If you use stimulants before a competition, yes. Then you'll be disqualified. But when it comes to training, any trace of them should be out of your system before your first meet."
"I dunno. Still sounds risky," the lion warned.
"I see. I was also thinking about bringing in Dr. Ruben Cioran. He's a psychologist who has done loads of work when it comes to performance and mental conditioning. I've done him a few favors, so I think he'll be willing to check you out."
