Her shelf life

    by: Joe Author IconMail Icon
Stella was sitting on the shelf with her eyes closed as she meditated. She spent her time finding inner peace and lacking a body has helped her do so. She felt more at ease until...

"I'M BORED!"

Stella opened her left eye as she saw her neighbor being impulsive and impatient. The head next to her is Sunny, a tan brown twin tailed haired head with a happy go lucky and energetic personality. She often is the head used when the collector needs to feel more positive about life.

"The collector hasn't put me on for a while and I got nothing to do," Sunny said, "But that might mean that she is not sad so I should be happy!"

Stella just smiled as she tried to meditate again. The collector has put Stella next to the more social heads so that Stella would be able to talk to others better. It sort of worked, but Stella doesn't care.

"Do you truly feel happiness from the happiness of others?" Stella asked with her eyes still closed.

"Of course! I feel happy for my body out there having fun! I'm happy for the collector feeling good about herself. And what's this? I made you smile! Everyone told me that you barely do!" Sunny said.

"I can smile," Stella said, "I choose not to. Though being around you is pretty infectious."

"I'm so happy for you," Sunny said.

"But what about yourself?" Stella asked, "Sure you are happy for others, but have you felt happy for yourself."

"Yeah! The fact that I can still do something without a body is enough to keep me smiling. Since I'm a head, I have a face and it's my job for my face to keep smiling," Sunny said.

"I don't know, something tells me that you are hiding a frown under there," Stella said.

"That's mean," Sunny said, "I'm doing my best to make the sadness here go away for the heads here. I do admit that I don't like seeing the heads here sad. Someone's got to be their sunshine in this room!"

"Woe is you to take such a heavy burden for us all. I am not mocking you as I feel pity," Stella said.

"Don't worry! I'll be fine! Maybe you can join me!" Sunny said.

"I don't know," Stella said.

"We could make an event where we show the joys of being here! Maybe that will raise the morale here!" Sunny said.

"Wow, this girl is dense. She's interesting," Stella thought to herself, "Maybe I should follow her to see where this goes. On the other hand, it seems like trouble."

So Stella...
