It was a nice summer day Jennifer sat at home reading a good book, enjoying a nice breeze coming in through the open window as well as some rare peace and quiet. With four teenage children that often didn't get along, such calm in the house was hard to come by, especially in the summer when they weren't attending school every day. Jennifer always tried to make the most of these moments when she could.
That was what she was doing now, at least it was ... the sudden sound of shouting in another part of the house interrupted her reading. Jennifer sighed and put down her book. This was the fifth time this week her kids had gotten into an argument and she was, quite frankly, not in the mood.
First her oldest daughters Vanessa and Clarissa got into a petty argument. Then her son Quinton had called Vanessa a bitch after a disagreement and Vanessa, of course, made a scene. Just yesterday her youngest daughter Julie had got into separate arguments with Clarissa and Quinton. And now this.
Jennifer couldn't quite tell who was arguing from where she was in the house. She could make out the voices of Quinton and at least one of the girls, but she didn't know for sure which. Whatever the case, Jennifer had had enough this week. It was time to take drastic measures.
"Can't you kids get along?!" Jennifer demanded as she stormed into the room where the argument was happening, not bother to determine who was arguing with who. "If you can't learn to put yourselves in each other's shoes and come to an understanding, I'll have to make you!"
"But Mom, she--" Quinton started to say before Jennifer cut him off.
"I don't wanna hear it!" Jennifer shouted. "Enough is enough! You're not getting off easy this time! I've got a special punishment in store for you!"
Jennifer's kids looked back at her nervously. They hadn't seen their mother this mad before and were afraid of what punishment she might have in mind. Jennifer just shook her head. It was time for ___ to spend a little time in each other's shoes ... literally.
