It was a nice, but hot, summer day, not a cloud in sight as a young man walked down the street.
He went to wipe a bead of sweat from his brow and groaned.
"This damn heat, home. Hooome." He whined out loud to himself.
The young man continued his groaning. "Still a while to go. I should've checked the weather app before heading out in this dry sweaty Hell... At least no flying rat's are shitting on me this time."
As he continued to walk, he became more and more sweaty and sticky. The rays of sunlight draining his already low stamina. He continued to walk until he felt a very pleasant breeze come from a small shop.
"...Ms. M's Fortunes, huh? ...Alright, if I'm going to sit down it's going to at least be a place that can afford some air conditioning." He thought to himself as he walked toward the building with a cute sign featuring a black kitty and a blue orb.
There was a long hallway with lights that lead to a dark circular room. "...Hello? Is anyone here?"
"Ahh! A... customer?" A cute voice could be heard in the distance.
Out from the right side of the room the black curtain blending into the room slid open revealing...
A beautiful young dark skinned woman wearing very... unique clothing. Unique and expensive looking, a lot of dark purple & gold, head to toe, complete with a beautiful purple sash that both, laid across her shoulders and made for a very short skirt. Clearly Egyptian styled. Walking around wearing in attire like that must of been... comfortable.
Struck by this beauty, he stuttered. "Ummm, H-Hello there!"
"Come to get your fortune told? That'll be $50, please." Ms. M took a seat in front of a blue orb on a table in the middle of the room.
"Pffft... $50." The young man couldn't help but smirk a little.
"...Yes, trust me. You won't be disappointed." Ms. M ignored the rude gesture and continued.
"I'm sorry Ms... M. I didn't come here to get some... $50 fortune. I just wanted to look around a bit." The young man forced a smile.
"Ms. M is just a shop name, please, my name is Menat." She smiled.
"Okay... Menat. You have a beautiful shop here... and nice cool."
"Yep, it's quite nice actually."
In attempt not to make things awkward as he used her shop to relax. "...How's business?"
"Umm, to be honest... quite poor here in America."
"And... why's that?" The young man knew why but decided to ask anyway.
Meant smile was replaced with a frown. "People over here... think this is some kind of fraud."
"You... actually blame them? Wait... you think what you do is real?" David stifled a snicker.
Menat made a cute, but serious, pouty face. "Seeing how my master has been doing this her whole life among other reasons, yeah. I'd say I do. It's easy to not believe in something you haven't tried because you're too cheap."
"Have you tried maybe... lowering the price?" David suggested.
"It's cheap if anything. It's one fortune." Menat was getting annoyed.
"...I'm not trying to offend, it's just that... it's not possible and is fake." David grabbed the back of his neck.
Menat stood up. "You're sure?"
"Yes... very." The young man kept sitting in the cushioned chair.
"Are you sure you're sure... Davie."
"100% sure... Wait... How do you know my name?"
Menat rubbed the orb in front of her.
"I... think I'll be leaving now." David said flustered.
"Apologize!" Menat raised her voice.
"I'm out..."
"I'm warning you!" Menat yelled as David continued to walk away.
Menat pressed both of her palms to the mystical orb. "If you thought me finding out your name was creepy then you're going to really be surprised, very soon..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
