“Yeah, okay.” Tilly forced a smile, hoping it didn’t look as tight as it felt.
As they stepped inside, the buzzing hallways filled with a cacophony of voices and laughter. Tilly’s eyes darted around, taking in the sights and sounds of her new reality. Everything felt surreal, like stepping into an alternate universe where nothing was quite right. Her previous life felt like a distant dream, slowly fading with each passing minute.
They approached the front office, where Tilly would collect her schedule. The receptionist, a kindly woman with graying hair and thick glasses, greeted them with a warm smile. “Good morning! You must be Tilly. We’ve been expecting you. Let’s get you set up!”
