The Great Fox, the command ship of the Star Fox team, made their way through the checkpoints to Katina, the security codes granted them by General Pepper (and the raw trust that Fox McCloud himself had earned for all his heroics) making it easy to get into the planet's orbit. Everyone was at monitoring stations, checking the planet for any signs of communication. But everything was blanked out.
"It's weird..." Fay said as she sent out hailing frequencies. "Everything's still ACTIVE, but its as if no one's monitoring or even attempting to answer..."
"I don't like this..." Slippy said. "Atmosphere's reading heavy amounts of... I don't know what it is. It's not registering on our scanners as anything familiar..."
Fox thought a moment. "Krystal, can you pick up anything telepathically?" he asked.
Krystal shook her head. "I'd need to be closer to the planet's surface," she said. "My range is high but it's not THAT high."
"We could get a better reading closer to the planet's surface," Fara suggested, clearly not happy with the suggestion.
"Not advisable without further intel," ROB64 commented. "While Star Fox is the superior group in both skill and numbers, Team Star Wolf is an extremely talented group of mercenaries. They have disappeared onto the planet as well."
"Except we can't GET the info without getting closer," Peppy said.
Falco frowned. "Your call, boss man," he said. "I'm all for taking the risk and checking out the planet closer, but it's your team."
Fox frowned, his ears drooping. He didn't want to put his team at risk, but there was still a need to find out what happened...
