You try to remember the man's words as you make your way to your last class for the day. You sit down in your usual spot behind your friend Anne. She turns to you and begins to say something before noticing the bruise on your forehead.
"What happened?!" she asks, leaning forward to get a better look.
"It's nothing," you respond. Still trying to remember what the man said. As the bell rings once again, signaling time for class to start, Anne turns toward the front of the class.
The teacher walks to the front of the class. He's a goofy looking man in his early 40's. He likes wearing odd colored shirts. His ties always have ridiculous patterns like that. He wears the clothes that you walk past and wonder who could possibly buy those. As you're chuckling to yourself about your teacher's clothing choices, it hits you.
"I have given you a power. By wearing another person's clothes, you will swap the corresponding body parts with that person. This power will work with anyone, but there's a catch. If you do not swap back within four hours, the changes will become permanent. They will be completely irreversible. Be careful, and have fun." As you recall his words, you can't help but think how silly that sounds. He must have been messing with you. How could that be possible? Still, you can't help but feel as though his words were true, if only you had a way to test it.
Halfway through the class, your teacher assigned group work to be completed in groups of at least two people. Before you had a chance to look around, Anne turned her desk to face yours and began examining your forehead again.
"Are you sure you're all right? What even happened?" she asked.
"I'm okay, really. There was a..." you trail off, should you tell her about what happened? It's kind of hard to believe, maybe it's best to keep it a secret for now. "deer. I swerved to avoid it and ran off the road. I'll be fine."
Anne appears to believe you. She begins working on the assignment, and you follow her lead. You finish it before class ends and turn it in. When you return to your desk, Anne looks at you like she's plotting something.
"What's up?" you ask.
"What are you doing after school today? You should come by my house and hang out for a little while," she says. Thinking about the offer, it could be a great opportunity to try out this power, but it could be risky. It might be safer to try it out on a family member first.
