Jaden Smith was out on the town, along with his boyfriend Tyler. The two tried to keep their relationship on the down low since the media would make a big deal out of it. Regardless, the two were trying to enjoy time together by walking around, going from shop to shop and really just enjoy each other's company. They went to clothes stores, jewelers and stopped for a quick bite to eat at a local ice cream shop. However, Jaden noticed a shop that intrigued him as they were walking around.
"Fortune Telling Services." Tyler read out on the neon sign above the door. He hadn't seen this place before, so he figured it was new. "C'mon, this sounds fun!" Jaden eagerly tried to pull Tyler into the place. "I don't know, I'm kinda skeptical about this place. I mean, what the hell is a tarot card, even?" Tyler asked. Jaden sighed and said, "C'mon babe, please?" Tyler shook his head and conceded. "Fine, let's go." Jaden eagerly walked into the place, Tyler following close behind.
The place was dark, except for some candles on the sides of the room. There was a round table in the middle of the room, pushed far to the back wall. A woman in a purple cloak was sitting at the table, her back facing the wall. "Welcome. Please, have a seat." She said in a hoarse voice motioning towards the two chairs in front of her. As Jaden sat down, he noticed an incense burning near the woman. "Shouldn't you have that farther away from your cloak. It might start a fire." The woman just chuckled and replied with, "My favor is with the cards, today. Or, as they said, I'm feeling quite lucky today." Jaden shrugged and sat back, placing his hand on Tyler's.
"You two are here, hmm, to have your fortunes told, yes?" She asked. Tyler, who wasn't really paying attention to the woman, perked up out of curiosity. They hadn't even spoken since coming in the shop. Maybe she was magic, or maybe this was what everyone came here for and she was just good at guessing. "Yup! We wanna know what our futures hold." Jaden eagerly said. Jaden placed two twenty dollar bills on the table as payment for the woman. She smiled and said, "Place your hands on the table, palms up. Either one will do." The two boys held out their hands and waited for the woman, who held Jaden's hand first. She circled the palm with her finger and squeezed his fingers.
"You two are dating...but you're hiding it...out of some fear." She first started, "You seem quite happy with each other. That's good..." Jaden smiled and winked at Tyler. "Told you this would be fun." The woman continued her routine, but her expression of joy quickly faded. "Oh no...oh my goodness." She whispered. Jaden turned his head, "What's wrong?" The lady then let go of Jaden's hand and quickly said, "You, give me your hand." Tyler held out his palm for the woman, with her doing the same as before. "Oh no, it is just as I feared." The woman said, her hoarse voice shaking as she let go of Tyler's hand.
"Is there a problem?" Tyler asked. The woman slowly nodded. "I'm happy to see you two are in a joyful relationship. Rarely do I see two people so equally happy with each other." Jaden and Tyler smiled, their hands tightening their grip on each other's. The woman, went on, "However, something is threatening that relationship, and it's quite potent." "Like a curse or something?" Jaden asked. "Yes! Exactly!" She nodded again. "So...do you think you can do anything about it?" Jaden asked. Tyler rolled his eyes, now wanting to leave. "Yes, I can, but the materials I needed to remove this curse are quite expensive." The woman explained. Jaden seemed to believe her and asked, "How much?" Tyler was almost begging Jaden to leave with him at this point. "For each of you, I think it would cost about fifty dollars each." The woman said.
At this point, Tyler was finished. "Fifty dollars!? For something we're just supposed to believe?!" He first cried out, "That's enough babe, let's get out of here." Tyler then dragged Jaden out of the shop, the woman trying to persuade them not to leave. She genuinely seemed worried, but Tyler wasn't buying it. Once they were out of the shop, Tyler apologized. "Sorry for that, but she was just tricking you babe!" Jaden sighed and said, "I guess so. A hundred dollars for a curse seems like a lot."
The two decided to walk back to their car, as the sun was starting to set. As they did, Jaden's belly let out a grumble. "Can we stop for dinner baby? I'm starving."
A week later, Tyler was still unconvinced about the curse. In fact, he had completely forgotten about it. Things didn't seem that different. Well, besides Jaden's appetite. He had been eating a lot more recently, and ordering out a lot more too. Tyler didn't mind as this was the happiest he had seen Jaden in a long while. Despite eating tons of greasy food, Jaden's mood was bright and cheery. Tyler was preparing Jaden a lasagna right now, hoping it would be big enough to satisfy his boyfriend. However he heard Jaden shout from their room.
"Hey baby?" He asked. "Yeah babe?" Tyler asked back. Jaden then asked, "..."
