Chapter #4
Samantha tests a few others
by: Unknown
Red, purple, and black orbs shivered into streaks of comet ball light soaring around Samantha's head. They swirled into a halo making Sam's hair flutter and kiss her cheeks, her eyes, her brow. "Feels so good,"
She arched like a human bow, hands rising to dance with them, feeling strange tickles of heat and cold. "I get it. I can't choose them. They have to choose me, Mark. Stand still and see if you get a visit or two or three."
Jenny moved up to hold Mark back. "Those are hers, my friend. All we can do is watch. Aren't they beautiful? See how they make Sam's aura shine?"
"I wonder what gifts they bring," Mark muttered while trying to shake Jenny's vice-like grip off.
All but one orb shot off leaving Sam grasping for them. The black ball hovered in place, wiggled a bit as if in silent thought, and launched itself directly at Sam's face. "Help me," she tried to grab and fling the thing off. "I can't breathe."
"God, Jenny. It is eating her," Mark gasped.
"No, it's not. That's the magic power being given to her. It is not eating her. Its giving her a disappearing act." Jenny laughed. "Are you there, m? See if you can make a guest appearance."
A whisper of disturbed air became a rising whirlwind where Sam had been. "I love it. "
Sam became a blinking on-and-off-again rapid-fire second long instances of herself. "This could come in real handy, guys. Want to play hide and seek?"
Mark grinned to himself, "I prefer your hide."
"Men." Jenny stopped from giving Mark an elbow in the gut. She was beginning to learn how easy she'd have to take her new strength. There were times when it was useful and times when it should be gently held in place.
"Sam? We both want that kind of magic. Aren't we just having a ball?"
"When they let us," chuckled Sam, appearing next to Mark and kissing the scowl off his lips. "Hang in there buddy. I have a feeling you are next.
