Scenario 1: 6th year during the Chamber of Secrets He finds Riddle's diary and with what little stress he already had he got a little bit fat but Riddle. Riddle sees the weakness and encourages Harry's appetite and laziness.
Scenario 2: 6th Year after a rather long summer Harry comes back to Hogwarts starved and overindulges at the first feast and at breakfast the next morning. He is so bloated and full that by the time he reaches Umbridge he can't complain much maybe groan a bit. Harry happy to have a somewhat calm year decides to take advantage and indulges and becomes quite lazy as a result. Maybe even playing into Umbridge's hands.
Scenario 3: During some time in his 7th year Ron and Hermione Die and The stress of the war and the grief of their loss starts to get to him. and he tries to escape the war.
