Chapter #2Julia's reaction. by: BeeJay   "Hanson?" Julia asked. "Since when have you been interested in clothes for little girls?"
Mom tried to protect me. "It's not like that, Hanson loves - "
Maybe I was just getting tired of hiding from everybody, but I interrupted Mom. "The truth is, Julia,... those clothes are for me."
"For you?"
Before she could say anything else, I became Hannah Hanson, right before her eyes.
She looked at me, uncomprehending. Then she fainted, right on top of me.
Mom lifted her off me. "Probably not the best idea, Hannah, dear."
"You think?" I left my Hanson pants and underwear behind, grabbed my new clothes, and toddled off to my bedroom to change, which is where I usually did that.

Julia woke up, slowly, to find Mom and me looking after her. "I had the weirdest dream," she said. "Your son turned into Hannah, right before my... " She stopped talking when she realized that she was holding Hanson's underwear in her hands.
"It's true," I said. "I've been doing this for five years." To prove it, I became six-year-old Hannah, before going back to 11-year-old Hannah.
Apparently, she wasn't shocked by that anymore. "How... How... ?"
I shrugged. "It's just something I can do. It was a surprise when Mom told me that other people couldn't do it."
"I won't deny that it might have taken a toll on my marriage," Mom said. "But that's between my ex-husband and me. Hanson and Hannah are blameless."
After a while, Julia handed Mom my Hanson underwear. "You'll need that," she said. Turning to me, she asked, "Can you do anything else?"
To be honest, that had never occurred to me before.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
