While she preferred the large audiences that job fairs and large hotel ballrooms allowed, Lucy Wong was no stranger to giving back to the community. Every so often, in between corporate retreats and major panels, she liked to do a few school assemblies, after all, no one needs more help than the children of today, who are the adults of tomorrow.
Although that tomorrow was far closer for the subjects of today's assembly. It was a bright September morning when Lucy Wong stood on the stage of Maple River High School's auditorium, giving her speech to the class of seniors that would graduate in the spring, and be sent off into the world of college and then beyond. The most lost and overwhelmed they'd ever be, and needing more guidance than ever.
At least that was what inspired the principal of Maple River High to invite Lucy to the school in the first place. Give the kids one last kick in the pants to ensure that they'd make something of themselves. Lucy was more than happy to do it, while she didn't charge as much for schools, there was always the chance of some teachers would buy a book.
Lucy enjoyed helping to shape young minds, and looked out on the sea of students, some attentive, some having side-conversations, and some just napping, before she began her speech.
