It was yet another day for Lucy Wong, traveling from place to place promoting her program. Now that she disliked it in any way though. She did it as she was passionate about it.
On this day in particular, she had made a stop for some gas on her way to her next session. Just one of many trips she had made on her trip. She didn't mind them though, as these stops often allowed her to see more people, and you never knew just what types of people you might be able to meet and help to change along the way.
Really she couldn't count how many people she had helped from little stops along the way, and perhaps this would be no different.
Inside the store, she was searching along for a few things for the remainder of her trip. Simple ordinary stuff that anyone else would do of course. It wasn't long before she was about to check out what she had bought, particularly because the store wasn't getting much business at the moment, leaving her alone with the few employees.
Lucy walked up to the counter, her eyes going to the clerk at the register who was slightly turned to her. Appeared to be a young man, probably in his 20's somewhere, with brown hair and brown eyes. Probably someone who was in college or just out of it if she had to guess. He appeared to be staring attentively at something, perhaps reading if she had to guess. That seemed curious. She smiled as she walked up to the counter, the sound of her steps alerting the boy.
"Oh!" he suddenly turned to see her coming up. "Sorry about that? You found everything alright?"
"I did thanks," Lucy smiled, looking at the guy's nametag. "Sam is it?"
"Yeah, Sam Farmer," the boy said, before getting a better look at the woman as he was checking the items. "And uh....are you Lucy Wong? I happened to see you on TV once."
"Indeed I am," Lucy smiled. "It catch your interest?"
"It was...interesting," Sam said a little unsure. "Though, if I may be honest, it does feel really hard to get such a life. I feel like there are a lot of people who try hard but end up with little."
"Trust me, you wouldn't be the first to say that," Lucy nodded. "Getting on the right track in life can be hard. You just have to find it somewhere."
As she said that, she happened to glance down. Apparently whatever Sam had been reading wasn't fully hidden, and she could make out what looked like a Japanese manga.
"Ah, is that your passion down there?" she asked, making Sam jump a little.
Seeing that he had failed to fully hide it, he blushed a little.
"Y-Yeah, I kind of like that stuff," he said. "Always have. Just always looked interesting to me. Big fan."
"That's good to know," Lucy smiled, paying for everything with her credit card. "I'm curious, is that the sort of life you'd want?"
That kind of sounded like a loaded question, not the one Sam had ever had anyone ask him before. Honestly, he tried to keep many of his manga/anime interests a secret from most other people as it felt a little embarrassing to talk about. Still, she had caught him red-handed, and on the one day he thought he wouldn't have a problem.
"I guess I would," he said. "Sounds more interesting than the one I have right now."
"I see," Lucy nodded, her smile still there. "In that case, I might just have something for you."
Lucy kept a whole bunch of things in her bag, one for many types of situations. Plus, guys with interests such as these were more common than you'd think. She had come across many who liked the idea of an anime world.
