Chapter #5

Let Sleeping Raccoons Lie

    by: SwiggitySwooty Author IconMail Icon
You decide against waking the giant, sleeping raccoon, both because you aren't certain that what she would do in the moments between being woken up and actually being awake wouldn't kill you, and because she probably wouldn't be in the best of moods if you just woke her up in the middle of the night, nor would she be too appreciative of someone crawling onto her bed while she was resting. You also suppose that it's not terribly safe here, either; she could roll around in her sleep, after all. Based on your reasoning, the best place to be before you inevitably try to come in contact with the only person you're aware of is most certainly not here.

Making good on your logic (which you're pretty proud of, honestly), you make your way to the edge of the bed once again, and attempt to crawl down the plain white bedsheets and back to the (relative) safety of the floor. Since they're not even tucked into the bedframe, they shift easily, meaning one side became very lopsided, with the sheet nearing the floor at one point. Whether that was because this massive raccoon girl moves around a lot in her sleep, or she's just not bothered to move it back in place, you're not entirely sure. Either way, it makes for a convenient way to travel up her bed and back.

You try to ignore the fact, also according to your logic, this whole endeavor was a massive waste of time and energy. Oh well; at least you figured that out before you actually attempted to wake her, because that could've gone south real quick.

The slightly coarse fabric makes for a useful climbing surface, even if your weight sometimes changed the shape of the creases you climbed down on. However, you can't help but feel like there might've been something you overlooked when committing to getting back to the floor this way...

Does anything happen while you climb down?
