Rouge was sitting in a dimly-lit G.U.N. office out in the middle of nowhere, filing out paperwork for the latest escapades she and Team Dark went on concerning Angel Island. It was awfully dull, and with Shadow off doing his own thing and Omega spending his free time at the private shooting range near Wild Canyon, she was left with nothing to do but sit here and sign papers in the stale, tepid heat of the room.
"Honestly, why do I have to do all the heavy-lifting around here," the deskbound thief grumbled to herself, "You'd think that they'd leave this to the staff, but I guess they expect me to babysit those two AND waste my time pushing pencils. And why does Shadow get to go out and do whatever the hell he wants? For a guy who's (sorta?) 50 years old, you'd think he'd be a bit more responsible than this."
Of course, it was pretty obvious to her why they kept her busy: they didn't like how obsessed with her 'hobby' she was. White-collars and victims alike all across the world probably hated her guts with how many Grand Theft report forms they had to sign and waive because of her. At least Shadow and Omega had the excuses of being created for mischief; the notorious jewel thief, on the other hand, was a complete other story.
The worst part was that she couldn't leave the room until she was finished! They actually put the effort into installing maximum security locks and reinforcements on every possible route away from the room, just to keep her in. That included the vents, too (which didn't cool the place down at all, by the way!). There wasn't a peep from anyone else, either; the walls were extra-sturdy, typical of a government facility. All in all, that left her with no choice but to sign waiver after waiver in miserable boredom, slow cooked by the residual heat of the semidesert sun that burned outside.
"This is just cruel. At least in jail I'd have a guard to tease..."

Suddenly, you jerked awake in an unfamiliar location. You'd had trouble sleeping last night, but you didn't expect the bed to be so hard on your back. Wait...this doesn't feel like a firm mattress; this is...
