Tom stared at the steering wheel. This was just luck, right? He had mistaken what his neighbor had looked like previously, and her attraction to him was just a matter of coincidence. That was it. This sort of thing happened every day.
Then again, there was the matter of that dream he had last night. The one where he made a wish for his life to be like his dreams. Which was more likely, that he missed the fact that his neighbor, whose assets he had somehow failed to notice, was flirting with him, or that he had magically gained some sort of godlike power? Tom honestly couldn't say.
"Alright," he muttered to himself. "Maybe I can test this one out. Maybe I could say...that a 7-foot tall woman is gonna walk by my car on her way to class in the next 30 seconds." He paused. Nothing. "Okay, kinda disappointing, but--"
Tom saw her emerge from around the corner of a nearby building. Sure enough, the woman walking towards his car towered head-and-shoulders above the rest of the other pedestrians. She was rail-thin, with long brown hair, and was wearing a blue basketball jersey. She waved to a couple people as she walked by them, strode past Tom's car, and continued without even pausing. Tom swallowed.
"Okay," he said. "That one was weird, but women can get that tall I guess. What if I said...that a 3-foot tall little person was gonna ride by on a unicycle?"
Tom stared as he heard the honking of a bicycle horn and the whirling of a single wheel's spokes. The man riding it was bald, bearded, and wearing a university T-shirt with the sleeves ripped off. He waved at Tom and honked the bicycle horn he was carrying as he rode by the car.
A curious ache began to arose in Tom's hands. He looked at them and noticed that he had a white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel of his car.
"Okay," he whispered. "Once is happenstance. Twice is circumstance. If this one works, I know what's going on." He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to release the tension in his body. "There's a sorority of huge-assed, giant-titted women on campus, and as part of a beginning-of-school-year ritual..."
