Sophie was definitely eager to get started. Though the other guests didn't seem that into it, Sophie had been incredibly excited about this tour ever since she received the invite. She had no idea what she had done to prompt the mysterious invitation, but she half hoped, if it wasn't too immodest, that her work had somehow drawn her to the attention of Elena and her company. She had been following the young company exec admiringly for some time, watching her rise to fame and success. They were the same age, and Elena was a role model of sorts.
While Sophie certainly took pride in her work, she had started to feel like her talents were a little wasted at work. Her creativity was stymied, and her bosses were quite controlling. They often put down her more esoteric ideas and designs, wanting things that were more traditional and conventional. Sophie was a shy girl, and didn't really have the courage to stand up to them. She had often found herself without much confidence. Even amongst this group, she felt a little invisible next to the glamorous Elena, sexy Charlotte and athletic Matt and Jenna.
"So, when do we get to see how you make the candy?" Sophie asked excitedly, sidling up to their hostess.
"I like your enthusiasm, Sophie," Elena winked at her with a smile. "But patience, there's plenty to see before we get there. I really enjoyed your cake decorations, such creativity."
Sophie clasped her hands together and gave a happy little squeal. "Oh my god, thank you so much. I had no idea you'd even seen my work but I thought maybe you might have I don't know oh my god..." She rambled on, fangirling enthusiastically.
Elena laughed. "Oh yes, I took the time to get to know all the guests on the tour. I was really very impressed with your cakes. You have a bright future."
Sophie couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Do you think I might be able to work for you one day?"
"Maybe sooner than you think," Elena smiled.
Sophie gave a little squeal again as Elena turned back to address the others, welcoming them to the first part of the tour. As Elena spoke, Sophie's head was filled with ideas about her future, what roles she could work in, what candy she could create, what flavours she could come up with...maybe she would have a job by the end of the tour! And her parents had always said it was a waste of her talents going into this business. Ha!
Sophie walked on ahead, following the other's into the first room. Instead of a factory floor, she found herself treading on very realistic grass. The room seemed to go on for miles, and she was amazed she had missed it when she first approached the building. Through the room, she noted that there were trees and bushes that seemed to be growing...candy? Candy canes stuck out of the ground, chocolate bars hung off the trees and candy flowers were growing on plants.
"This is amazing!" Sophie said out loud, running forward and admiring the garden. She couldn't believe they had created something so fantastic. She had to know more...
