As the Shinx murmurs, you continue to stroke its nose, and even its fluffy cheeks. You’re slowly starting to believe that this Pokemon is actually friendly, considering how it didn’t eat you and it’s generally being gentle with you. Maybe it just wants a friend to play with. Or it wants a toy. Either way, you’re stuck with it until it decides to let you go, so you might as well try to act nice and play along with it. Plus, if you can befriend it, you may be able to convince it to bring you back to your starter’s ball.
But if you’re going to befriend this Shinx, you should at least learn its gender. While you pet the giant Pokemon, you sneak a peek around its head towards its back half. You can see its back paws are blue, which confirms that this particular Shinx is a girl.
“Good girl,” you say as you continue to stroke her cheek. “You’re not gonna hurt me, right? You just want to play, right?”
Shinx lifts her head up out of your reach and looks down at you. She says something, and while you can’t understand her, her tone of voice sounds happy. Next, she begins to excitedly hop left and right. It seems like she really does want to play. You’re shaken each time her paws hit the ground, and when you feel like you’re about to lose your balance, Shinx suddenly hops forward and brings one of her front paws down on top of you, knocking you over and pinning you for the second time. She releases you after just a moment, then growls happily and bounces up and down.
By now, it’s obvious that she intends to play with you by trying to catch you and pin you. That certainly sounds like the sort of game that a wild Pokemon would enjoy. So, you get up and start running off to one side. Shinx grins and cries out happily, then lunges after you. She misses the first pounce, but easily pins you on the second. She quickly releases you, and now you start to zigzag as you run away. Shinx waits and watches you intently. She notices that when you change directions, you have to slow down, and so she waits for that moment before pouncing again and pinning you under both of her front paws. Shinx lets out another cheerful cry, happy that she’s able to catch you despite your efforts to escape.
She lifts her paws and lets you go, and this game continues for a while longer. Your plan seems to be working. Shinx is enjoying herself, and you have to admit, you find this fun too. Usually, you’d be terrified of being chased by a giant monster. But this one is playful and careful not to hurt you, so this feels like a fun game. Plus, her happy noises whenever she catches you are adorable.
Then again, you’re getting tired rather quickly. You’ll have to stop soon. Hopefully Shinx will understand, and not get angry, or force you to keep running until you faint from exhaustion.
Eventually, after being knocked onto your back and pinned once again, you look up at Shinx and say, “Hey, girl. I’m glad you’re having fun, but can we take a break? I’m tired now.”
