"Uh, that's a bit... sorry," the question seemed to fluster her a bit. The woman had to take a breath to compose herself before proceeding, "Well, I'm living in this huge house these days. My kids are grown up, off to or on their way out of college. They're all I had after my husband..."

Michelle paused, hesitant to acknowledge the fate of her apparently absent partner, "Anyway! It gets lonely here, and I was thinking about getting a pet. A friend suggested looking into a tiny or two, and-" She stopped, seeing the word 'pet' have a physical effect on the fearful girl. She waved her hands up, trying to dissuade Sara from misunderstanding her, "Oh no no! Sorry, not that you're a pet! I mean... that's technically how I bought you, but-" she sighed, regaining her composure again. Seeing the massive woman so flustered while addressing was a confusing, but hopeful experience for the young girl. She sat up with her legs crossed, facing Michelle fully with cautiously rapt attention, "It's okay. I'm supposed to be a pet. You can say-"

"No!" Michelle hastily retorted, causing Sara to shrink back. If she wasn't a pet, then her fate must be far worse.

"No, sorry. That's what I was recommended, and technically what you are, but..." she brushed her long hair behind her ear, finding the strength to verbalize her long unspoken feelings, "I miss having someone to take care of, and watch grow. I-I know it's a bit unorthodox, but I was hoping to kind of... adopt you."

Her smile grew into a warm, welcoming shape, emoting the sincerity behind her wish. How does Sara respond?

You have the following choices:

1. I guess that sounds nice...

2. Sorry, but I miss my real mom.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
