Kara Dawson couldn't believe the party she had been invited to, she made sure to go all out to make a good impression. She was wearing a simple red cocktail dress with shoulder straps and that ran smoothly down to her knees, showing off her curves. Her hair was also perfectly straight and she used it to hide the straps. She wore red lipstick to compliment the dress and a shade of eye shadow that really made her blue eyes pop. This was the prettiest she had felt since prom.
Though the party was not quite what she expected, while her attire was perfect, she was expecting it to be a sorority event. She was the only other university student here. She couldn't even ask for clarification for what this party was for or who these people were, as the woman who invited her had abandoned her as soon as they entered the door.
"My aren't you an intriguing specimen," an older man in his sixties greeted her, his accent was weirdly feminine and Kara didn't like how he was looking at her. "We don't get too many high school students, I'm sure many here would love to experience that again, myself included."
"I'm on my first year of university," Kara corrected, trying not to be rude. While her benefactor had abandoned her, she didn't want to risk anything that could jeopardize her chances of getting into the sorority.
"My apologies. Still you have your whole life ahead of you," he gave her a creepy smile before looking over at the parlor room. "I believe it is time for the main event, after you..." he gestured towards the door where the party guests were congregating.
Kara hurried away from the man as gracefully as she could, she approached the parlor where one of the staff invited her in. In the middle of the room was a a high table with a bowl of paper in it. People were already grabbing a piece of paper, some shrugged while others seemed to be excited for whatever they pulled out. A couple of people looked disappointed.
"It's your turn Kara," the sorority girl was already waiting for Kara. "Grab a name and we'll be ready to begin."
Kara had a bad feeling about this but all eyes seemed to be on her now, only two pieces of paper remained in the bowl, she reached in and grabbed it, stepping aside so the old man could grab the final one. She held the piece of paper in her fingers and opened it the name she had was a...
