Most people are surprised at how stealthily you move when you're in the woods. They could walk half a foot away from where you're hiding and not knowing that you're crouching there.
Part of their surprise is because everyone is always surprised the first time when a ranger displays their woodcraft. But part of their reason is your sheer size. No one expects a man your size to move silently through the woods, no matter how much training you've had.
The thing is, you're seven and a half feet tall, and not a skinny seven and a half foot either. You are solidly muscled. Your size, along with the shape of your jaw and a few other odd facial features, hint at a giant somewhere in your ancestry.
Still, when you're in the woods, a shadow makes more noise than you do.
Of course, you were hunting in the forest surrounding your family's homestead almost as soon as you could walk. You could shoot a bow, set a trap, track any kind of animal...the woodcraft you knew even before you reported to the Academy impressed even your elven instructors.
