She looks you over with a scathing glance, humiliated to have to be asking another mage for work. "I have a role for you, sorceror." Quickly adding, "I'd do it myself, but my absence would be noticed and raise alarms."
Sensing her agitation, you gesture towards a quiet table in a quieter part of the bar. With less foot traffic, and only one way to watch, you nod towards a table near the corner. She nods her agreement, as you slip off.
Gesturing to the bar for two beers, you follow your potential employer... Or their surrogate, she doesn't sound like she's happy to hire anyone. So guess she's been chosen to vet candidates.

Once the beers are delivered, and the barmaid paid, she has you practice small magics on the table. The usual assortment of spells, have you summoning a ball of fire between your hands, water in next keeping the dancing sphere of water from spilling. She nods, as you achieve everything she asks. Her poker face refusing to reveal whether she's impressed or bored. She has you summon a coin across the table, dragging in once, and floating it a second time. Again you pass the test, as you feel sweat starting to bead on your forehead.
"Can you disappear it?" she asks. Drawing a frown, leaving it to you to interpret her. Either magic it from the table to your hand, or render it invisible. Hoping to impress, and afraid of failing, you go for the harder option. Glaring at the coin as you summon your will. You release a deep sigh, when it disappears.
Plucking the invisible coin from the table, you give it a spin. Both of you able to faintly hear it whirl, and definitely hear it clink against one of the beer glasses.
The longer the tests run, the happier you become. The progress to hiring is clear. Releasing the enchantment the coin blinks back into sight. "Final test, face shifting..."
"It'll be essential." She warns, so it's good that's one of your greatest strengths. Looking down to the brown half-reflection in your beer, you alter your features, raising a different face to meet hers.
"I can do whole body too." you boast, "Though only briefly." you add.
This time her poker face cracks, and she beams triumphantly. Her frustrating task completed, it's clear you have the job.
