Seek out the legendary Arcane Trickster

In all his days as a detective, Sherlock Holmes had encountered multitudes of women. Some were victims. Some were villains. Most were, in the mind of the great detective, merely background objects from which clues might or might not be gathered.

But there would always be the woman, Irene Adler, the potential for a scandal in Bohemia.

In the same way, in the world in which you are an illusionist, there are many who use their spellcasting abilities to distract and deceive while committing some nefarious act, be it petty or otherwise. All of these could say they were an arcane trickster. But only one could assert that they were The Arcane Trickster.

Any time a major crime was committed, one of great daring and ingenuity, and in which the powers that be had been deceived and befuddled, it was attributed to The Arcane Trickster. Some stories said The Arcane Trickster was a title, passed down from generation to generation. Other stories claimed The Arcane Trickster was a demi-deity. All the stories agreed that if a young and talented rogue or illusionist (such as yourself) could find The Arcane Trickster, they would reward the seeker by taking them on as an apprentice for two years. During that two years, the student would gain skills and abilities that they couldn't learn anywhere else, not even in a dozen lifetimes.

Said student would then be unleashed on an unsuspecting world where they would be the greatest arcane trickster alive, save for The Arcane Trickster themselves.

You decide you're going to be systematic in your search for The Arcane Trickster. The first thing you're going to do is read everything you can on the subject at the Library located at the
*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
