It was almost a rite of passage for the very best novice paladins of your order to face off against Jevahgo. Jevahgo was a hecatolite dragon who wasn't so much evil as he was mercenary. Normally, Jevahgo constrained himself to managing his smuggling operation. However, he did like to indulge his dragon heritage from time to time by kidnapping a princess for ransom. Said princess was usually the daughter of a wealthy merchant who only recently became a minor noble.
The kidnapping of said "princess" was precoordinated, with the kidnappee being made quite comfortable. The ransom was always quite reasonable, and your order was always given an opportunity to rescue the princess in nonlethal combat. If you lost, the ransom would be paid in full to Jevahgo, If you won, the merchant would make a sizeable donation to your order, ten percent of which somehow making its way to Jevahgo. In any event, the princess would become a minor celebrity when she returned home, you would gain practical experience in fighting dragons, and Jevahgo would get a payout. Everyone came out a winner.
