You look up at the half-giant with curiosity, suspicion and...expectation?
You're curious because you know why the half-giant has come to the druids of the Sacred Grove to help capture a unicorn. All of you are (obviously) attuned to nature, and all of you are virgins. The former trait is helpful in locating a unicorn, while the latter trait is essential to capturing one.
So literally any druid of the Sacred Grove, including Ancient Tree Mother herself, could be used to track and capture a unicorn. So why did Ancient Tree Mother pick you, the youngest and most inexperienced member of the Grove? And why does this half-giant Rabgud want to capture a unicorn anyway?
That last question makes you transit from curiosity to suspicion. There are several reasons why a man of any sort might want to capture a unicorn, and none of them were good.
Then there was the expectation. You had spent just the briefest time at the Heroes' Academy before it was discovered that you had the innate abilities and natural mindset that would make you a druid. You were instantly spirited off to the Sacred Grove, where you've been living and learning ever since. And you've enjoyed your life here.
Mostly.
But, except for that handful of days you spent at the Academy. you've only been one of two places in your life: the farm you grew up on, and the Sacred Grove. You never even got to see the part of the city that grew up and around the Academy. And one of the reasons you wanted to become a Hero was to get out and see the world.
There was a lot of things the world had to offer.
Sex, for example.
You didn't have to be a virgin to be a druid. You only had to remain a virgin if you wanted to stay at the Sacred Grove.
Which you wanted to do.
Mostly.
And if you lost your virginity, you wouldn't be banned from the Sacred Grove. You could still visit and stay for a few nights. Those who lived here would still call you sister, cousin, niece and daughter. They would treat you the same. It's just that the Sacred Grove would never be your home again.
It's not like you didn't mind me being abstinent.
Mostly.
Okay, once in a while you would indulge in a little self-love, where you would fantasize about the one time, right before you left for the Academy, that the miller's son touched your breast for almost five seconds. Granted, it was above several layers of clothing, and you pushed his hand away immediately.
Almost immediately.
But once in a while you indulged in some nebulous fantasies about what might have happened if you hadn't pushed his hand away.
Your thoughts are interrupted when the Ancient Tree Mother suggests that
