The Ancient Blade Artifact

    by: DEMONCHICKEN69 Author IconMail Icon
Darren and Carmen were just spending yet another wonderful day together, holding hands as they walk home from a joyful dinner together. Smiling as they just take in the sights of warm night, the stars in the clear sky, others enjoying the beautiful night, drinking, having dinner outdoors. Darren and Carmen just continue on walking along the side walk passing by other people when Carmen noticed out of the corner of her eyes something reflecting the moon light back at her from inside some shrubbery.

At first she was just going to ignore it, but the new she noticed what looked to be a shiny metal blade with a long wooden handle attached to it. Which peaked her interest and looked closer to see a price tag tied to it that's handwritten, like somebody bought the and lost it or it was stolen and ditched. Either way Carmen wanted to know what's it was, "hey hun, what is that?" She taps on his shoulder and points.

"What is wha...oh, huh," Darren answers as he sees what Carmen is pointing at.

Where he gets closer to see what looks to be a very ancient looking long handled blade of some kind, which is something that Darren is into. Having a small collection of various blades himself pulls it out of the shrubbery, where he immediately recognized it to be scythe, a really old one too, "woah, its a scythe." Darren tells Carmen.

"A scythe?" Carmen asks from confusion.

"You know, its what the reaper uses." Darren informs her.

"Ohh! But doesn't he use that to kill people?" Carmen asks.

"Well yeah, but not anymore it seems." Darren answers.

"What do we do with it?" Carmen asks.

"I wanna keep it." Darren tells her.

"Are you sure, I think it was stolen. I mean look at the price tag still on it." Carmen points out.m

"Maybe, but it could also have been lost." Darren adds.

"I think we should report it to the police." Carmen suggests.

"Hmmm...I'll tel, you what, lets take this home tonight and I'll report it tomorrow." Darren answers.

"I suppose, but don't go cutting yourself with it." Carmen's jokes.

"I promise." Darren replies.

With that the lovely couple continues on their walk home with Darren holding onto the scythe, looking at more and more as they walk together. Where they eventually reach their front door and walk inside with the clock showing '11:00', "well, I think we should get to bed." Carmen says before letting out a long yawn.

"You should because you have work in the morning and I don't." Darren reminds her.

"Oh poop, you're right." Carmen remembers that she has work at 8a.m in the morning.

"Anyways, have good night babe." Darren says as he gives her a hug and kisses her on the lips.

"You're not coming to bed with me?" Carmen questions.

"I will later, I wanna do some research on this thing." Darren tells her.

"Oh boy, just don't injure yourself." Carmen answers before she walks down to the bedroom.

As for Darren, he walks, into the living room where he leans the scythe on the sofa beside him as he sits down with his phone in hand. Where he tries to figure out where this came from, looking at the price tag and sees a logo stamped into it, "wait, I seen this before." Darren says to himself as he tries to search it by typing in the letters, but can't find much.

Trying a different way, he takes a photo of the logo to do a image search, using the photo he searches and at first he doesn't find much until he was about to give up when he spots the same logo that's tied to a magic shop in his town, "wait a minute." Darren says and looks at the scythe again, thinking that maybe this isn't any ordinary ancient scythe, but something magical. Which really gets his mind racing as he thinks of sorts of things that it could do, but nothing prepared him for what it could really do.

His mistake of leaning it against the side of the sofa resulted in the scythe falling to one side which was towards him, he tried to catch it. However it was to late, the scythe fell over, the cold sharp blade slicing right through his ankle. Severing his right foot clean off his leg. His immediately reaction was to scream, but knew it would cause Carmen to run in to see what just happened. Instead he covered his mouth to cover whatever sound dd come out, but the more he look down in horror at his foot laying there on its side. He began to notice something off about the whole thing, there was not an even single drop of blood on the floor like he expected.

Then he noticed something else, he can still feel his severed foot and tried to curl his toes. As if his foot is still attached it happened instantly, he watched his toes curl and uncurl before his eyes. Seeing and feeling that, he reached down and picked up his sock clad foot to see that the cut area has been replaced with more of skin, hence why there's no blood on the floor, "holy moly, its magical." Darren finally blurts out.

Where he just sits there looking at he scythe that had just severed his foot for a moment before he began to wonder if he could attach his foot back, so lifting his right leg like he's putting on his socks, he carefully attaches his foot up with the end of his leg and it attaches instantly, "Wow! I always thought magic was fake." He said to himself before picking up the scythe where he looked at it in awe of what it can do.

Where he eventually began to get the urge to try it out more to the point that he decides to....
